CES Red Ribbon Week Activities

October 23rd - 31st
Activities to promote and celebrate responsible, healthy choices
and to encourage students to remain drug, alcohol, and smoke-free!

TUESDAY, October 28th
                             “Future Think:  Dressed for Success”   

  • Students will be asked to wear clothing or a clothing item that represents their future dream career (no weapons or look-alike weapons), OR a favorite college t-shirt or sweatshirt
  • STAFF:  College t-shirt or sweatshirt day!  Talk up your alma mater!
  • Teachers and parents are encouraged to discuss the types of work habits and behavior choices in which students can engage now to begin moving toward a successful career or being accepted to the college of their choice.
  • Talk Topic:  Why is remaining drug free and healthy an important part of having a successful life with a successful career?  What career are you considering?  What type of schooling/training do you need for this career?

WEDNESDAY, October 29th
“Natural High:  Better Things to Do than Drugs”

  • Students and staff will be asked to wear clothing or a clothing item that represents one of their favorite activities, hobbies, or something they love to do
  • Students will view video clips from celebrities that discuss how things like music, surfing, motocross, or sports help them feel and be their best.  Did you know that when your body is engaged in something that helps you stay active, creative, and healthy, your brain distributes chemicals that make you feel your best?  Find something to do that exercises your brain power!
  • Talk Topic:  What do YOU love to do?


THURSDAY, October 30th
“United We Stand”

  • Students and staff will be asked to wear patriotic colors.
  • Unity and like-mindedness is an important factor in choosing friends, making choices, and establishing habits.  Unite with those who know what it means to be a good friend, with those who make good choices, and with those committed to good habits.
  • Talk Topic:  How can you develop good friendships, encourage others to make good choices, and establish good habits?

FRIDAY- Oct. 31st   
“Sock It to Drugs”

  • Students and staff will be asked to wear their most AWESOME socks!
  • “Kid President” will be featured on WCES, offering a pep talk to help us choose the path that leads to AWESOME!  We will rock our awesome socks to remind us of the path we should choose.
  • We can make every day better for each other with the choices we make.
  • Talk Topic:  What will YOU do to make the world AWESOME?

**Photographs and videos of students taken in school and at school events may be used in print and electronic media, including newspapers and the internet. This may include photographs and videos taken in classrooms, in other areas of the school building, and at events normally open to the public. Students may be indentified by name in photograph captions.

Parents who do not want photographs or videos of their children used in print and electronic media should notify the principal in writing by Sept. 30th of each school year.

More information about the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your child's education records is available on the school system's website under the "Parent" tab, Required Public Notices.

**Volunteers who have previously completed an application to be a CCPS volunteer in KeepnTrack DO NOT need to complete a new application each year.

If you have questions about your volunteer status, please email us at CCPSKeepnTrack@calvertnet.k12.md.us. We can electronically update your schools by adding or deleting them. Please email us with changes you need. Tell us your name and the changes you are requesting. We do not need the name/s of your student/s. Their names are not in the volunteer database for security reasons.
